Teaching

They say it takes a special person to teach middle school. I don't know if I'm that special, but I will say it isn't easy. I currently teach theatre to 6th, 7th, and 8th graders in the Kansas City area. I am blessed beyond belief to have a job in the arts.

Every teacher should have an education philosophy. Mine goes a little something like this:

"I teach young minds with the hope that they will find what they are passionate about in life. I desire to meet students where they are and provide them unique opportunities to discover, create, and engage in the world around them."

I think most teachers are originally inspired to become a teacher by someone who taught them. This is most definitely the case with me. I was lucky to have many teachers in my life who helped ignite the spark in me to teach. All the way from my itty bitty days (ok, I'm sill small, but you know what I mean!) to now, teachers have put a huge impact on my life and helped mold me into who I am today. I want to be that for my students.
